1. Product Overview
Flexible joints are fittings used to connect two pipe sections or between pumps and pipelines. They provide elasticity and flexibility to compensate for vibration, thermal expansion, or misalignment during system operation.
2. Specialized Technical Specifications

| Flange Material | Galvanized steel, stainless steel 304/316 |
| Connection Standard | JIS 10K, ANSI Class 150, PN16 |
| Working Pressure | 10 bar, 16 bar, 25 bar |
| Temperature Range | Rubber (< 100°C), Stainless steel (up to 400°C) |
| Size | DN15 (1/2″) to DN600 |
3. Common Types
3.1. Rubber Expansion Joint
- Structure: Body made of synthetic rubber reinforced with fabric, ends with flanges or threads.
- Advantages: Excellent vibration absorption, noise reduction, and shock damping.
- Fuel application note: Must use NBR rubber (black, usually with indicator stripe) to resist fuel corrosion and swelling.
3.2. Stainless Steel Flexible Hose
- Structure: Corrugated (bellows) tube with external stainless steel braid.
- Advantages: Withstands very high temperature and pressure, excellent chemical durability.
- Applications: Used in hot oil, chemical systems, or locations requiring permanent durability.
4. Why Pump Systems Must Have Flexible Joints
- Anti-vibration: When pumps operate (especially large gear or centrifugal pumps), vibrations travel along pipelines. Flexible joints absorb these vibrations, preventing flange loosening or pipe cracking.
- Compensates misalignment: If pipe ends are not perfectly aligned, flexible joints accommodate the offset without stressing the pump casing.
- Thermal expansion compensation: As temperature changes, pipelines expand or contract. Flexible joints absorb this movement, protecting fixed points.
- Pump protection: Reduces mechanical load on pump flanges, extending seal and bearing life.
5. Standard Installation Positions
- Pump suction and discharge ends: Most critical locations.
- Before measuring instruments: Ensures flow meters (e.g., Series MP) are not affected by vibration.
- Long outdoor pipelines: Compensates for thermal expansion and contraction.
